Marine geoscience consultancy Hydrofix acquired by RSK Group

Marine geoscience consultancy Hydrofix has been acquired by RSK Group. The deal is a great example of how Alinea works tirelessly to maximise shareholder value in the offshore wind energy sector.

Having spoken with several corporate advisory consultancies, it quickly became apparent that Alinea was the right team for us. Their unwavering commitment, professionalism and attention to detail enabled us to focus on business continuity throughout the entire process. Oli’s hard work and dedication ensured we achieved the right deal for the business, its employees, and shareholders. Iain Bones, Shareholder.

Established in 2015 and based in Cheshire, Hydrofix comprises a team that collectively holds more than 100 years of combined experience in offshore site investigation, seabed preparation and construction consultancy support throughout a project’s life cycle.

Clients include SSE, Ørsted, RWE, Marubeni Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Global Marine Group, Enshore Subsea and James Fisher Renewables.

Recent projects have included the provision of operational support from desktop study through to the installation of multiple fibre-optic and power cables on the west coast of Scotland and assisting the planning and site investigation of cable routes across the English Channel and Irish Sea, as well as various wind farm unexploded ordnance (UXO) investigation, inspection and clearance campaigns in the North and Baltic Seas.

Hydrofix Director Patrick Clark said: “As a team at Hydrofix, we felt the RSK way of business complemented our approach perfectly. We focus on our clients, projects and staff to deliver added value in every work scope we support. With quality remaining at the core of our work, the RSK acquisition will enable Hydrofix to continue expanding its specialist geoscience services across wider sectors and regions.”

As RSK continues to deliver its ambitious growth strategy, it now comprises more than 175 companies, employing 11,000 people. The Group’s annual turnover at the end of FY22 was £796 million.

Alan Ryder, RSK Group Chief Executive Officer, said of the deal “Hydrofix boasts an experienced multidisciplinary team of marine geoscience specialists who, uniquely, have worked on almost all UK operational renewable projects incorporating wind, tide and wave energy sites. The company will complement RSK’s marine science, renewable energy and geosciences services.”

Alongside Alinea, Jamie Hawley from Aaron & Partners acted as legal advisors to the shareholders.
